Blue Shield members who have opted into electronic delivery of communications will receive digital ID cards only for their Blue Shield medical plan. Blue Shield are honoring the member’s preference to go paperless by expanding digital communications preference to include ID cards.

Key Notes

If a member has selected an electronic delivery preference, then they can access their updated digital ID card by logging into their member portal at blueshieldca.com or in the Blue Shield of California mobile app.
Members with digital communications preferences will receive an email notification that will include a direct link to their updated ID Card when it is available.
Members can print a copy of their ID card when logged in at blueshieldca.com.
Members who have not opted for paperless delivery will continue to receive printed ID cards.
Dental plan and vision plan ID cards will continue to be delivered by mail.
