Original medicare

There are two parts to Original Medicare, Part A and Part B. Part A covers hospitals (inpatient care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care and home health care). Part B covers physicians (medically necessary services and preventive services)

Supplement and advantage Plans

Through a private insurance company, you can choose either a supplement plan or an advantage plan. A supplement plan will pick up the gaps in original medicare and you will need to purchase a Part D Drug plan as well. An advantage plan takes the place of original medicare, includes prescription drug coverage and typically has no premium.
